On Aug 26 we purchased our first “Big Boy Toy”, a 1979 MacGregor Venture 25 Sailboat. We named her Chinook. She’s a 25′ Sloop with a swing keel, drafting 22″ keel up, 5′8″ keel down and weighing 2100 lbs. She berths 5, or so that’s what the builder claims, and she has built in floatation and water tanks for the sink, if we ever decide to use it. Currently she is equipped with a 4 hp outboard motor, which, on windy days, struggles to get her out of the marina. We’ve taken her out on Utah Lake several times now and we love it, the boat and the sailing. It has been a very worth-while purchase for our family.

Today I hope to get some shots of her under sail from a distance.
