where have I been the past 4 1/2 months, and what the hell have I been doing?

Well obviously I haven’t been blogging, so I’ll try to catch up. My last post introduced Chinook, our MacGregor Venture 25′ sloop. We kept her on Utah Lake until mid October going out as often as we could and enjoying every minute of it. The season on Utah Lake ends around the end of October, [...]

Introducing Chinook

On Aug 26 we purchased our first “Big Boy Toy”, a 1979 MacGregor Venture 25 Sailboat. We named her Chinook. She’s a 25′ Sloop with a swing keel, drafting 22″ keel up, 5′8″ keel down and weighing 2100 lbs. She berths 5, or so that’s what the builder claims, and she has built in floatation [...]

September Snow

We had a big storm over labor day weekend, so on monday I went down to the lake to check on the boat. To my surprise, the top several hundred feet of most of the mountains were covered with snow. Now if that’s not global weirding, I don’t know what is.

And this was late in [...]

More sailing, oh, and a boat too.

For those who know me, its no secret that I can be a bit compulsive at times. My entire life I’ve always loved water, the ocean, lakes, streams, even rain. I’ve never stopped missing the beaches I grew up near in California, and I’ve always been a little frustrated with the bodies of water in Utah. Most [...]

Symphony Summer Season is over !!! I think I’ll go sailing.

Tonight was the last concert of the Utah Symphony’s summer season. Yeah!!! It nearly killed us at times, (as usual) but we survived (as usual). Now to get back to work on the house and a couple of new adventures I’m planning to take on, converting my Honda CRX to electric, and learning to sail [...]

Who the hell is Kritofer Dand?

I generally hate junk mail, but occasionally it can be some what entertaining. Today I received some junk mail from GE addressed to Kritofer Dand. They get the award for the most creative screw up of my name. The usual’s are: Christ Dance (or some other shortened version of Christopher); Christo Danc (or some other shortened version [...]

Maestro, I shrunk the piano

Sometimes the truck is so full, we have to use the Dimensional Duplicator and Incredible Shrinking Machine to make some things fit, such as this piano.

Ice Road Bloggers Pics as promised

So it’s taken a while, but I finally have pics from our Wyoming tour.

I just realized this post was left in drafts rather than being published. So her it is.

Jane Goodall … really is.

Hi there. Just finished up a gig for the U of U College of Humanities. The 2008 Lyceum II Lecture. The keynote speaker was Jane Goodall, the chimp ladie. What an incredible humanitarian, and not a bad speaker either.  The setting was Abravanel Hall, my second home as of late, and the subject was Peace with Nature. The [...]

Ice Road Bloggers & Duck Farts

Hey! It’s my first post. I just returned from a trip to Wyoming with the Utah Symphony. We had a two day tour to Lander and Pinedale. Thursday we drove from SLC to Lander. It is a 300 mile trip but it took us quite a while. It was snowing in SL when we left [...]
